As of June 1998, the Small Craft Harbours network consisted of 105 commercial fishing harbours and 40 recreational harbours. Of the fishing harbours, 52 were managed by 38 independent Harbour Authorities. The number of recreational harbours has decreased by 38% since 1995; in this region, 25 recreational harbours were transferred between April 1, 1995, and June 30, 1998. The number of recreational harbours has decreased by 30% since 1995; in this region, 134 recreational harbours were transferred between April 1, 1995, and June 30, 1998.
